Air textured yarn, also known as ATY, is a kind of chemical fiber filament. It uses compressed air to jet-deform the chemical fiber filaments, so that the outer ring locally forms small loops, and then it is broken to form a number of exposed ends, thus approaching the "yarn" spun by short silk according to the conventional method. At present, polyester, polypropylene fiber, nylon, viscose fiber and acetate fiber all have air textured yarns. Air textured yarn can be used to make silk spinning, cotton-like or wool-like fabrics.
